Who is this service for:

  • for citizens of any state who got married in Georgia and received a state marriage certificate of the established form;

  • for citizens who got married in Georgia and want to get a divorce as quickly as possible, without unnecessary formalities and without extra costs for visiting Georgia;

  • for citizens who got married in Georgia, but are outside the country of residence and do not have the opportunity to file a divorce in the country of citizenship;

  • for citizens who got married in Georgia on their own or with the help of any wedding agency.

The marriage is dissolved administratively and does not require obtaining a residence permit or Georgian citizenship. Divorce takes place in the territorial body of the Legal Entity of Public Law "Agency for the Development of State Services" of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia. In the event that the spouses cannot be present in Georgia, the dissolution of the marriage is formalized by a proxy on the basis of an appropriate power of attorney.

After divorce registration, each of the spouses receives a copy of the Divorce Certificate in Georgian with translation into English and with apostille or seals of the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. Divorce certificate will be sent by postal mail EMS to the address indicated by the client.

Conditions for dissolution of marriage (divorce) without personal presence:

  • consent of both spouses;

  • the absence of common minor children;

  • the absence of property claims.

Documents required for divorce without personal
presence

  • Power of attorney/powers of attorney for an authorized employee of our agency in English, duly certified by a notary with an apostille or consular legalization (except for countries that have signed the Minsk Convention). The power of attorney must be completed in notarial form (execution and certification must be made by a licensed notary).

  • Copies of foreign passports of the spouses.

  • The original of the marriage certificate (wedding certificate) issued in Georgia.

All documents must be sent to Georgia to our postal address.
Preparations for the divorce procedure are read only after receiving all the listed documents.

  • consular legalization in the consulate of a foreign state (if the consulate of a foreign state is located on the territory of Georgia).

Please note that the terms and cost of consular legalization are indicated ONLY for legalization by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, and do not include the cost and terms of legalization directly by the Consulate.
